I can finally post this! A friend of mine commissioned me to draw Eric from the Eric Linnaeus book series by Kikito Lynn as a gift to the author! I am so happy with how this piece came out and had such a blast drawing this character <3
Eric Linnaeus from the Eric Linnaeus series by Kikito Lynn
(I wanted to color some skin markings ‘cause there so fun to do)
NOOOOO CALLA MY LOVE NOOOO
I'm gonna put this here bc it'll be easier than the comment section of that one post but here's a lot of what I like abt the eric linnaeus series:
- I've mentioned this but the POVs. Not only do we only see Eric from outside POVs, which makes him such a compelling and mysterious character, to then getting a few chapters from his pov is so fascinating (I won't spoil anything).
But also everyone has such a distinct voice, no one sounds the same. That's a big issue some multiple pov books have is everyone sounds the same. But this author is so good at making them all sound different!
- another thing I've mentioned but the fae aren't these good people. I like that we get to see the darker parts of their lives and culture. They aren't good beings, they eat people (specifically children), kidnap baby girls to raise into "pets", kill anyone they deem weak, etc etc. Reading any of the Fae's POV is so interesting bc they don't share the same morals as Charles and Claire do nor do they care to change it that much until they do ofc.
But also the mythology is really interesting but I don't want to spoil so I won't say which one specifically
- I really enjoy reading about the twins ngl they have my favorite dynamic behind Eric and Nathaniel. The twins being so dependent on each other and aren't meant to be separated is one of my favorite dynamics. They don't want to be separated and it hurts to do so. They'll forgive each other bc they care deeply for each other
Also the whole switch thing was really cool (albeit a little confusing at first in book 2)
- eric and Nathaniels relationship and how much it changed for the better. Their relationship is another thing I like to read tbh but they are more healthy than I thought they would be for a book marketed as "dark fantasy" and I really like to see that ngl. Eric desperately wanting to tell Nathaniel everything will never not make me unwell lmao and Nathaniel seeing Eric as a safe person and trusts him and wants to do anything to keep him by his side oouugghhh <3333
- the flashbacks and several "random" povs are always relevant. Some books do not do that well but this one always ties it back to the story or a character. I just like how it's done and it doesn't always feel out of place either. So I think that was done really well too imo
- one thing I want to see more of is Charles (and ron). I want to see him from other povs too and how he looks like he's handling Ron if that makes sense. I feel we could have more Charles in general 😌
Anyway this series is amazing and I cannot wait for more lmao
I love how we get multiple povs and they do each have their own voice it’s amazing and really hard to find books like that/write like that (I’d know the novel I’m writing swiches povs a lot) and how Eric seems so different depending on the pov
Again I also love how different the fae are in the series and I had absolutely no idea what the Vanir were at first and had to google it 🤣🥲
And yes I’m absolutely obsessed with Nathaniel and Achaicus (I can never spell his name right) and how it’s so different from sibling/twin dynamics. I had to message the author about the switching part in the second book because I was so confused 😭
ERIC AND NATHANIEL ARE MY CHILDREN! I LOVE THEM AND THEIR DYNAMIC AND HOW HEALTHY THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS CONSIDERING HOW TOXIC IT SOUNDS WHEN I TRY TO EXPLAIN ITTT ❤️✨
YES the flashbacks tying back and from randos povs is extremely hard to do but Kikito Lynn does great with it
I would also love to see more of Charles and Ron in the novella (book 5) but I’m also only on book 3 so I have no idea how important they are in book 4
I feel accomplished I finally found another fan of the books

No one expects the enemy to come sit in their lap... Unless it's Eric, and you're Nathaniel...
Have just started Eric Linnaeus going in blind and I’m half way through chapter one here are my thoughts before I finish the book. Who the hell is Eric! It seems like Charles is going to be the main character so I don’t understand. It seems like it’s going to be horror with “minor inconvenient deaths” and Charles naively ignoring them he mentions himself he is a rookie at his job and is the youngest out of the ranger guys, and that really ominous prolog so once I finish chapter 4 maybe I’ll give an update on my thoughts.
Eric: Nathaniel and I are no longer dating. Nathaniel: Eric, that’s a horrible way of telling people we’re married.
