Momma Curtis probably had a plethora of nicknames for every boy that'd show up in her house.
Her's just some of them I thought of,
Darry: (Baby) bear, Darling, Dear
Her oldest had the most nicknames growing up, though, as he got older he'd get embarrassed by the amount of pet names she'd give him. She overheard a complaint from him when he was 9 and since simmered down with the nicknames. However, she never could quit the habit🥹.
Soda: (Baby) bird, Sunshine, Sweetie, Sugar, Pop
Really any nickname that meant: Light or Sweet, was Sodapop's. He never had complained about the nicknames and would oftentimes be confused when she'd refer to him just as Sodapop assuming he wasn't in some sort of trouble.
Ponyboy: (Baby) colt, Munchkin, Pone, Baby
Being the youngest of the Curtis', he'd get teased at by the older boys for the amount of petnames he'd be given. He would also get embarrassed by the names but would try his best to brush them off when surrounded by the gang. ... Momma Curtis was stubbornly optimistic about the names she'd give her baby boy.
— She gets to call all her boys baby (animal) because that's what my momma's done. AND IT FEELS RIGHT!!!
Now for the rest of the gang, she'd usually refer to them as Dear or Honey but would often times get creative.
When Soda and Steve were younger & together, she'd refer to them as "Sugar & Spice." — Steve earned the nickname at 8 years old when he got mouthy.🥹 — Besides that, Steve doesn't have many as he almost never responds to them, he just doesn't grab the gist of nicknames.
Ace: Doll, Sweetheart, Beautiful, Honey.
Though Ace isn't her blood daughter, she's the daughter Momma Curtis always dreamed of having. She'd do Ace's hair from the time Ace was 7 to 14, occasionally giving her tips on how to control and tame her hair.
Two-Bit: Mouse, Kit, Darling, Honey.
Keith's mother and Momma Curtis were attached to the hip, and it was no different for Darry and Keith. Two-Bit was the first to the Curtis gang, and had been part of the Curtis' lives since the day he was born.
Dallas: Dear, Cowboy, Daredevil.
Dally doesn't like nicknames from anyone, and was unusually quiet when Mrs. Curtis gave him the nickname, she thought she messed up somehow, however, he began showing up more frequently afterwards. — He got his nicknames from his time in rodeo (plus, the amount of horse breeds he could name off the top of his head) and from his recklessness.
Johnny: Johnnycake, Sweetest, Baby, Honey, Dearest
When she first met Johnny at 7 years old, she'd known all too well about his home life based upon having an idea on who his parents were. She always made sure whenever he was over, he'd be treated just the same as her own boys.
And when all of her boys were together they'd be referred to as "the team", as in reference to a group of horses.
