Recently modded a kindle for a friend and now I’m a little tempted to do it for mine, but I don’t really have a reason to. My kindle voyage is kind of perfect to me as is lol i thrifted the kindle i gave to a friend for $5 btw! Really proud of that find! I think it’s a 2020 model?
I do think I’m going to order a new origami case for my voyage though because ive had the one that I have for like six years and it’s starting to fall apart. I suppose i could change the battery again as well, but I don’t really feel the need to. The battery is now to a point where I need to charge it maybe once a week with extensive use. Which isnt great by ereader standards, but it’s still pretty good.
My dad also thrifted a dead kindle keyboard and I’m really tempted to buy a replacement battery for it so i can fix it up, but I’m not sure why. Just for fun really. I guess it could be another gift, but most people would probably rather have a more recent model. I just think it’s cool lol I gave another friend a kindle 3rd generation that doesnt have the touchscreen a while ago and they seemed to still like it.
I keep trying to get my mom to like ereaders but I think shes just too attached to real books. The paperwhite model (2021 maybe?) that I gave her just collects dust lol which is fair. But I am considering taking it back and setting it up for someone else who would use it since it has the warm light feature. Hmm
I love giving people kindles and 3dss that I found for really cheap and set up with a ton of content. Whats that saying about someone who writes you a sonnet loves you, but someone who writes a lot of sonnets for you just likes writing sonnets. Thats me but with tech. I hope it doesn’t come across like I give them just because I like setting them up. One of the best parts is picking out books or games I think the person would like and putting them on it. I think it’s how I love people, even though it isn’t really traditional lol
