the drive to turn himself in was hard to overcome, and only managed because he didn’t want to die.

and he knew he would, or that he would want to if they got him.

so he stayed hidden. squatting in a half-destroyed hivestem complex, stealing only what he desperately needed, avoiding every troll on the street, creeping under the radar as much as he could.

though, at his size, it was hard. eventually, he molted, and his eyes gave up the con, and he had to move deeper into the forest than he’d ever gone, where trolls didn’t know nor care that redbloods were uncommon, even rare or different. which worked fine.

staying hidden was his best option, so he did, as much as he could. he avoided the rare troll he met, but some are hard to brush off, some are tenacious and friendly and want to know him. some are rebellious and want to fight and know stories about mutants from before the adult ban.
