Equal Pay Day Gathers, Inspires
What an amazing success! Â Equal Pay Day was everywhere this year. Â There were articles or editorials across the country. Â Here in Chicago, the Tribune, Crains, ChicagoNow, FoxNews, and CBS news each covered the day. Â The Chicago Sun-Times, and Rockford Register printed Letters to the Editor. Â And a Reuters wire story even mentioned Chicago's rally.
During the hour at Daley Plaza, members of Women in Comedy made us laugh. Â Luvvie Ajayi cautioned us to not accept pickle juice or all we will get is pickle juice. Toni Preckwinkle gave us perspective on the history of Equal Pay Day. Â High School freshman Camrynn Lawrence shared her perspective on pay inequity. Â
Melissa Josephs told us about a Sick Paid Days initiative with City Council.  Dorri McWhorter warned that #BBHMM.  And to send us back out to the world, Jessica Disu (aka FM Supreme) reminded us that “just because it is the norm don’t mean that it’s right.”
CAN-TV was there to record the event in all it's glory. Â Check it out! Â http://tinyurl.com/EPDChiVid
