Doric dialect is such a freak. Why does an aorist imperative have a -ντω ending and why, if attic αν is doric κα and attic ει is doric αι, we have both ει and αν in the same subordinate clause (αι is present in other clauses). This is from the tabulae heracleenses btw and is a rental contract of a land managed by the city.
I would translate the first part as: "And when the trees‚ someone wouldn't have planted as prescribed". Is this even grammatical.
(The overall meaning is that if the trees have not been planted after five years, then ten men chosen among the people should write the tenant's fines in the amount prescribed by the law together with their rent.)
