The Infiltrator
Drug traffickers in Miami were making so much money that they had to find safe places to launder it. This became a strategy for the FBI to sneak its way into the cartel's operations to bring them down. The story of undercover agent Robert Mazur was recently released as a film called The Infiltrator, starring Bryan Cranston. He pretended to be Robert Musella, an expert money-laundering businessman from New Jersey. He built a whole life around this persona for 18 months, and even flew cartel members on his private jet to the floor of the stock exchange in New York to appear legitimate. Mazur helped to bring down over 100 drug operatives working for Escobar in Miami.
