𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐲  𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬  𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐞,  staring  past  patrick  at  the  blank  stretch  of  wall  beyond  him.  he  lets  a  beat  pass  —  long  enough  to  prove  he  heard  it,  short  enough  to  pretend  he’s  not  rattled  —  before  shifting  his  weight  against  the  mattress.  ❝  define  best. because  if  we’re  talking  risk-benefit  ratios,  i’d  like  to  point  out  that  i’m  still  upright,  still  breathing,  and  not  currently  coding  on  you.  ❞

𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤  𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐬  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫  𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫  until  its  legs  scrape  softly  against  the  floor.  he  plants  the  chair  where  it  blocks  the  easiest  path  out  of  the  room  and  sinks  into  it,  elbows  braced  on  his  knees,  hands  loose  but  ready.  like  he’s  got  nowhere  else  to  be  —  because  as  far  as  he’s  concerned,  he  doesn’t. 

It wasn't that he didn't believe him, it's that he wanted to see for himself. Walking the few steps across the elevator he tried the call button as well. It didn't work.

Fuck.

"Well I guess it's a good thing I'm out of theater for the day," he muttered mostly to himself.

Tyler  glances  at  Patrick  and  it's  obvious  he's  holding  back  a  smile,  but  then  he  lets  out  a  bit  of  a  snort  at  his  words.  ❝  Really  ?  ❞  he  jokes  as  he  slowly  turns  toward  his  work  husband.  ❝  You  know  -  I'm  more  likely  to  believe  that  once  you  start  wearing  my  teams  jersey.  ❞  though  he  doubts  he  could  get  him  to  take  off  that  favored  jersey  of  Patrick's  and  trade  it  in  for  a  Texas  one.

But  maybe  he  could  somehow  make  it  happen.  A  smirk  of  an  idea  appears  across  the  trauma  docs  face  as  he  gives  Patrick  a  glance.

❝  But  maybe  I  could  make  it  happen...❞  his  fingers  tap  against  his  chin.  ❝  You  know  what,  you  keep  pledging  your  allegiance  to  my  skilled  surgeon  hands  and  my  vibe,  I  won't  make  you  support  my  team...not  yet,  anyway,  even  though  I've  got  a  jersey  in  your  size.  ❞

𝑻𝒉𝒆  𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏  𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏  𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎  𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌  had  a  bright  pink  blush  rush  over  David's  cheeks.  Had  he  been  that  obvious  with  the  way  he  was  flirting?  He  thought  he  was  rusty,  unreadable  at  best.  Clearly  he  was  wrong,  or  Patrick  is  just  that  good  at  picking  up  the  vibes  in  which  David  was  giving  off.

A  faint  chuckle  escapes  him,  and  he  rubs  the  back  of  his  neck  as  one  does  when  often  nervous.  But,  he  can't  help  it.  Just  being  around  Patrick  makes  David  a  little  bit  nervous.  Flustered,  even.  It's  safe  to  say  that  Patrick  makes  David  feel  something  he  hasn't  felt  in  a  while  and  no  one  could  blame  him  for  that.  And  no,  it  hasn't  changed  since  they've  been  married. 

Patrick  just  had  a  way  with  him  that  no  one  else  has  ever  had.  Everyone  in  the  hospital  working  there  knew  it,  even  some  patients  noticed  and  would  pick  on  them  a  little  bit.

Even  has  a  pediatrician  ,  he  had  kid  patients  who  noticed  how  flustered  his  own  husband  could  make  him.

A  chuckle  escapes  David,  giving  his  head  a  shake.  ❝  One  of  these  days  I'll  be  less  obvious  -  but  I  don't  think  that's  going  to  happen  any  time  soon.  You  just  know  how  to  read  me  like  a  book.  ❞
