im still thinking about james' "you remind me of someone i used to work for" accompanied by that smile. like...his reaction is one of such open fondness and joy—perhaps, finally, bubbling up to the surface of its own will after his attempts at fighting it for the 2/3 of the episode—and he means by it 'i used to love working with you and i missed it (missed you) so much and im so so glad you are back' but he can't say it like that so he says this instead. you remind me of someone i used to work for. which is the same thing really, the meaning is not even that buried; it's at once classic indirect oblique james and as open a declaration as we get. gahh!
