In another disorienting flash of light, Echo found herself transported back into Hive City proper. As her vision cleared, she saw that a few meters away the young girl she’d met had been transported along with her. Echo jumped over a fallen street sign to cross over to her, and when she did she felt a familiar weight in her sleeves -- her knives had been returned to her. Did that mean this experiment... No, the empty streets, the uncomfortable silence...all signaled something was wrong. Turning to Mariko, she cautioned her.
“They’re still testing us. It’s not over yet.” She crossed her arms into her sleeves, confirming the cold steel of her weapon was there should they need it.
