“Have you seen a flying creature pass by, about this big?” Echo spread her hands half a feet apart. “It has many keys with it.” 

And one important one. She was retrieving a package for the inn when the little monster swooped in and snatched the key she had momentarily set down. Quick to react and unfazed by the unknown creature, Echo tracked it into the next sector until it dove around a corner and disappeared. Glancing around for any signs, Echo had approached the nearest person.
