100% accurate endless-sona~ still have a bunch of my old self-inserts, magic gadgets and pals kickin around 🌈

I’ve never been interested in ‘sona fandom, because I’ve never been one to insert myself into stories. The idea just doesn’t appeal to me. I guess I find my own life very banal and uninteresting, so I’m much more interested to observe the lives of people who are different from me. (Also, I can’t draw, and let’s be honest, 90% of ‘sonas are character design.)

But to my surprise, the idea of Endless-sonas actually does interest me! I’ve seen a few, and they’re interesting because they all have a story to tell. If we are to assume the powers are related to their troubles, as is implied by the examples we get, there’s a lot of stuff you can infer from the details.

I don’t really care what I would look like (I’m 110% into transhumanism so a body mod like Todd’s purple skin would be cool I guess), but my power would definitely be teleportation. As a child I was obsessed with escapism and always reacted to problems by attempting to hide or isolate myself.

(If I were to enter Endless now, I think my power would be completely different. Invulnerability/immortality -- I no longer feel constrained physically, but I wish to be free of personal limitations such as pain and hunger. Of course, that seems part of the standard package of Endless itself, so kind of a lame power.)

What interests me more, though, is the idea of an Endless to match the person. Endless as presented in the show would hold no appeal to me -- I hated that kind of rough physical play as a child, and the obsessive attention of the residents would just trigger my social anxiety. But if, as implied by the Buttwitch’s dialogue and the fact that a four-square arena pops into existence on Reggie’s first arrival, Endless can be shaped to a person’s desires... That opens Pandora’s Box. It’s kind of a reverse Silent Hill -- what would an eldritch environment do to please you, rather than terrify you?
