I find it so funny how Trump really took away medical rights for Trans ppl but apparently wishing death on him is bad.

this shit hit hard for me. i don’t know exactly how to explain it, but it’s just something about the way reggie gets scolded for trying to enjoy herself while her mom forces things that she doesn’t feel comfortable with on her (dress, makeover, etc.). not everyone enjoys the same things and reggie just doesn’t have interest in the same things that her mom and esther do. and then her mom comparing her to esther is a whole nother oof. being compared to someone who has the interests that fit your parents standards and feeling like you’re not a good enough child for them is NOT a great feeling.and esther KNOWS how reggie feels about this. you can see it on her face that she doesn’t want to be dragged into that and doesn’t want to make reggie feel like she’s not needed.

and then this scene, where reggie starts doubting herself.  y i k e s

she feels so pressured about not being what her mom wants and not fitting up to her standards. when you experience stuff like that, it just feels like you can’t be yourself and do the things you enjoy because someone won’t like it and you won’t be acceptable in someone else’s eyes. and that’s shitty and bad (obviously)

this! scene! is! important! her mom realizes that she shouldn’t put all this pressure on reggie to be something she doesn’t want to be and gets her the boots. wowie. her mom is really great, but she does sometimes mess up. when she does, she does her best to fix it and i love that. she really does work hard. :’)
