"My name is Carlo with AnakbayanNY, representing the numerous Filipino youth that struggle to find solidarity both here in the US and in the PH. The children in the diaspora of a country exploited by U.S. imperialistic ideals, we stand in solidarity with the number of children who have been separated from their families at the border. And while many of them are immigrants who have come here to find better life, we must remember the idea of forced migration and the unfortunate hardships they must endure forcing them to move away from their Homes and their countries and forcing them to come here to where they have been discriminated against. Over the past century the many people of the Philippines have seen these ideals forced onto them through the military intervention of U.S. Imperialism and Bureaucrat Capitalism ideals. These people have been forced to come to the united states to fight for their rights and work for low wages to send their money back to their families in the Philippines.Their conditions are not protected...their conditions are not even thought of in the right way that their government should be representing them...their government doesn’t even represent them at all. And their government doesn’t represent them here where they’ve come to escape the conditions they’ve suffered at Home. The government in both the Philippines and the United States have abandoned their responsibilities to their people...and so it is in our moment right here with all the situations happening all around us that we ask the United Nations as they make their decisions to think “What do the People want?” NOT what they believe is “morally correct” but they need to actually ask the people how can they better the conditions of both the people back Home and the people here who have been forced to come here due to forced migration. And so as the fighting children in the diaspora of these exploited nations we stand in solidarity with you, Anakbayan stands in solidarity with you. Thank you, Si se puede!" . #EndForcedMigration
