In Dr. Lydia Li’s Social Work  616 Adulthood and Aging class at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, students were asked to create and implement a project around aging.  This group of students created a Facebook Survey.  Read on for the results.

Students in this project group of Dr. Lydia Li’s Social Work  616 Aging and Adulthood class chose to create a Facebook survey to “determine how ageist we are, and how realistic our ideas of aging really are.”  Keep reading to see the survey, and then the results.  You’ll find it fascinating!

The survey then displayed a picture of strong older adult, with different results.

In Dr. Lydia Li’s Social Work 616 Adulthood and Aging class, students created projects to challenge ageism.  This group created a sticker with a thought-provoking phrase about ageism.

Why did this group choose to create and strategically distribute a sticker?  It’s quick, easy, noticeable, and a great conversation starter.  

The sticker is a visually pleasing conversation starter and reminder that every age is good on its own merits.  An additional flyer was created to expand on the sticker and to provide resources for further information about ageism.
