I don’t feel strongly about Olivia as a person either way but I’m going to be honest, some of the hate towards her is starting to feel like over compensating. Like people think the only way her and Harry could be PR is because she’s an evil villain
yeah i fully agree. it’s ridiculous and frankly, i don’t call on this often for stunts, but a lot of it is straight up misogyny.
i don’t mean people or posts that don’t like her for whatever reason (sometimes we just don’t like people!) or call to a specific thing that bothers them (valid!). but there’s a whole fandom culture now (both here and twitter, so people here shouldn’t be too high and mighty about that lmao) that is rooted in 1) thinking she is somehow personally oppressing harry and 2) an evil irredeemable person. both of which is nonsense. also, really incessant mocking her for being over 30, which is gross (way beyond a one-off joke or w/e).
i also think i just have a different perspective on this stunt than some others do? obviously there is an element of closeting to it — harry is closeted, he can’t publicly be with his partner (louis), that is always going to be upsetting. but what we are seeing with holivia is…very standard for any celebrity stunt, particularly someone newly A-list like harry? like, i would expect to see 99% of this even if he was straight and actually single. that really puts it in perspective for me and i think it probably does for him too (or i would hope, i obviously don’t know). it inherently has a different PR aspect than straight up closeting does.
also just wanna say it’s gross as fuck people are denigrating his work and this project the way they are because they’re so dead set against olivia as a person lmao. again, there are valid reasons to not care for this film, that’s fine, but to see people actively wishing for it to flop simply because they don’t like olivia is so transparent and nasty.
