Alright, quiet down. Hey, you...yes, you...shut the frak up. I have to get ready for a thing, so let's get to this. Here is today's entry to the deleted-scenes-that-would-have-made-Laura-Roslin-even-more-awesome list. It's from Crossroads: Pt. 1(s3e18).
After Lee Adama forced Laura to expose her cancer, on the stand, in front of the entire fleet without so much as asking her, a press conference ensued back on Colonial One. We saw a portion of it (with Tory going off on them and Roslin telling her to chill out and sending her away), but it didn't just end there. Here, you'll see that the reason Laura's Presidency worked so well was because when giving press conferences and other public events, she resorted to her teacher-like ways (also because she was super high, which Mary McDonnell said she was portraying her as during this time). My favorite bit though is the look on their faces when they almost instantly feel comforted, without even realizing that she's completely redirected the issue back to Baltar's trial.
I can understand why this was cut. It added nothing to the story, but it was nice to see what the reaction to the revelation that her cancer has returned was from the civilian portion of the fleet. Also, you think she's going to go one way with it and instead you just end up smiling.
