“I don’t know, Félix, I really don’t know, but… would it be cruel of me to be glad she didn’t receive a gift?” she said, letting herself melt into Félix’s harms, “Y’know, I’ve wished the same for all the kids… having a gift in this family is…” she sighed, “Stressful,” and then she paused again.
“You have to hold the weight of it at such a young age, it affects you. Look at my hermanito…” she had to pause again at the mention of Bruno, “Everyone hate him since he got his gift. Before, he used to be the golden child… everyone loved him, he talked a lot and he was friend with everyone and now… now it’s hardly to believe that I was talking about the same person we know today…” she finished and the rain became harder as she cried desperately.
“Ay, mi amor… let it out, don’t worry…” Félix whispered to his hear and kept cuddling her.
They spent all the night talking and embracing each other until a gentle knock on the door interrupted them.
