When unintentional procrastination got the better of you and now you’re struggling hardcore to do a catch-up. I just wanted to bang out the six units I needed to do for my Hazmat studies and now I’m major roadblocked from doing so. It’s so so so frustrating. I’m stuck waiting on my account to be “accepted” and was told it could take 24 hours... I was supposed to be sending in these certifications and TD19 tonight. Gods DAMMIT. Why can’t shit go right? Like... Please?? I’m just gonna have to rush through them tomorrow and pray to some god I can still do the thing. I really don’t want to have to wait till the end of March to take my exam :/
OMG
So I took my lab practical final today (final #1 of 3). I was super nervous but here’s how I did:
Test outs randomly assigned: non-rebreather, BVM, bleeding control/shock management, trauma assessment, AED/BLS Resuscitation
I was really hoping I’d get med assessment instead of trauma. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise
Non-rebreather, BVM, and bleeding control all passed.
Trauma and AED passed with distinction.
So far I’m the only person to pass with distinction on any skill, let alone two. I earned it on trauma by aggressively managing shock beyond the scope of the testing sheet, and I earned it on AED by reviewing causes of arrest with my team before ALS arrived. My instructor was shocked, and only said “you did amazing. I’m going to miss having you in my class”.
I’m going to miss you too Rob
EMS Instructor: I’m not going to spend a lot of time on these diagrams of genitalia. You’re college students and I’m sure you all have plenty of hands on experience with these.
Oh Boy.
Today it really hit me that I am taking the plunge. I have been debating on doing this for a year now and here we go. I”m officially doing it. I’m going EMS. This is only possible through my town’s vfd program and for that, I am forever thankful. Maybe I’ll end up going career. Maybe I won’t. Who knows. I’m just ready to see where this journey goes. Here’s to hitting the books. Here’s to hitting the rigs.
Here’s to getting my feet fully wet and joining the family I admired for so long.
I’m so damned excited.

4 codes inside of 2 weeks and two intubated pediatrics? Thank god I've got three days off 🙏🏻

Pretty sure I just got perminant partners on the two shifts I haven't had them on in a while and they are both people I've worked with before and actually like. Thank you EMS gods for this blessing 🚑👌
