“This drink was atrocious. I want a replacement.”

Naomi inhaled slowly, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose, but she couldn’t stop the way one dark brow rose as she took in the empty glass on the table. “It was atrocious but you managed to drink the whole thing?”

He didn’t look at her, eyes glued to the stage and one hand against the crotch of his pants in a way that made Naomi want to roll her eyes. A flippant hand was waved in her direction. “You’re obviously new, sugar. The customer is always right. Scotch.”

Temper temper, Naomi, her blood whispered harshly as it boiled. Christopher had refused to look her in the eyes too and she wondered what this privelaged prick would say if she gave him even less to grab onto between his legs.

She gave herself and her anger over to a powerwalk to the bar, so dedicated to the process that she didn’t look where she was going, bumping into another body and letting out a “motherfuck” before she could even think about professionalism. Her new boss, actually technically her “only” boss ever, stared down at her and she felt her face heat up. 

“Sorry,” she let out, mortification in her tone. “Sorry I’m not . . . used to walking in crowds . . . and this guy wants a replacement scotch for the horrid beverage that apparently wasn’t so bad he couldn’t drink it all . . . is that a thing? Is that a thing that happens? You get a free drink for complaining? Because I feel like that doesn’t lend to a lucrative business.”
