What happens when the one who holds the space has no space held for them? When the one who listens deeply goes unheard? It’s a loneliness of the Soul, not just being alone, but realizing how few truly reach for you. Sometimes it feels like the scales are unbalanced, like you pour and pour into others and the energy never returns with the same depth.
Many of us walk as the “holders,” the “healers,” the “anchors,” while quietly aching for someone to meet us where we live, in the depths.
But I’ve come to see, it’s not about expecting people to match us. Expectation is the quickest path to disappointment. It’s about discernment, knowing who can meet you deeply and who cannot. It’s about not emptying yourself into places that cannot pour back. We can’t demand others to hold us the way we hold them, but we can choose where to invest our presence and where to protect it. See loneliness has its own lessons. Sometimes it pushes us back into our own arms, reminding us that self presence is sacred too.
