What if Percy's fatal flaw does eventually kill him, but not because he was protecting someone to the point of not caring for himself, but because he refused to give up the empathy link with Grover when he was thirteen to know if Grover ever needs him again and then Grover dies and Percy dies with him.

I just re-read Percy Jackson and the Titans Curse, and I had a little THOUGHT
So we already know that Percy and Grover have their empathy link all throughout the book, right? Sorry if I'm wrong, but in Sea of Monsters I vaguely remember Grover saying that if one of them dies, they both die.
For me, I'd like to think that the only reason Percy was able to perform the colossal feat of HOLDING UP THE SKY was bc of Grover and their empathy link.
This is just a hc but because they are such great friends, their empathy link was so powerful that part of the weight of the sky was passed onto Grover. I mean he does contact Percy during this and tells him to hold on. Grover held up the sky along with Percy, or at least made it lighter.
This is just a little theory that I thought was cool. Also, this means that Annabeth is Super Super strong bc she held it up on her own.
