We believe that the best form of social media to use to appeal to the local community would be Facebook. We feel that Facebook is the most widely used form of social media in the world and that the local community of Taos, New Mexico would be most likely to follow in this trend. This area is very laid back and we feel that Facebook is an easy form of social media to use that doesn't require much to tend to.
Our plan is to start a business page on Facebook. We would send this business page out to all of our employees on Facebook and have them send it out to all of their friends to 'like' this page. We would then reach out to local hotels and snowboard/ski shops and have them 'like' our page as well. We could then look at the customers who like their pages and reach out to them. We would post contests on our business site to post their favorite picture of them snowboarding or skiing and tag our page and the top five pictures that we like will get an exclusive deal or discount on one of our offers. We can foresee generating a lot of business and word of mouth for us. Additionally, we can have an event that if we receive X amount of likes on this page by a certain date, all of the people who liked the page will receive a coupon for a discount.
