i don't think it's a weird insecurity at all. i'm a similar type of writer as you, and i know people always act like fiction is the only type of writing out there but in reality being able to write critically is an invaluable and extremely rare skill. you have a remarkable ability to put into words what a lot of people are feeling, yet lack the skills to express. what you do helps give voice to the voiceless, and we would all desperately feel the lack of your presence. This makes me feel a lot better, to be honest. Sometimes it’s just nice to know you’re not crazy or weird for feeling the way you do about something. It’s hard being a person who’s never felt comfortable writing fiction but still wants to be a writer because so many people just don’t get it or support you or believe in you. I try so hard to reach people in any way I can through my writing because it always helps me feel like I’m at least contributing somehow when I do that. So thank you for reaffirming my hope that my writing can have a positive impact on people even if it’s not what people traditionally think of when they think of “writing.”
