Broomsticks Make Everything Better || Emma & Alicia
Emma ran back up from her cellar common room, puffing with exertion at her pace and from the warm clothes she had wrapped herself in. She skidded to a stop near the front doors of the Great Hall and leaned back against the wall, panting cheerfully. Her round cheeks were still tear-stained, but she was smiling too hard to notice. She was so excited it felt like her face might split in half from the intensity of her grin. She was going to fly, on a proper broom, on the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch--and not just that, but she was going to fly with Alicia Spinnet, one of the Chasers on the Gryffindor team!
As a loyal Hufflepuff, Emma would never admit that her house's team wasn't the best--but neither would she ever deny that the Gryffindor Chasers were anything less than superb. Singly all three girls were brilliant fliers; together, they worked with such synchronicity and dexterity on the pitch that they were absolutely fabulous. Emma knew that Cedric Diggory, Hufflepuff's captain, had more than once advised his own team to look at the Gryffindor Chasers for an example of teamwork at its finest, and Emma agreed with his assessment.
And now, she was going to fly with one of them!
Emma put her woolly cap between her teeth so she could quickly tie her loose hair up in a messy braid, which would keep the colorful strands (today streaks of blue and pink) out of her face while she flew. She jammed the hat low on her head and looked around, unconsciously bouncing with impatience. She probably hadn't needed to rush as frantically as she had, since she knew from her sister that the Gryffindor Tower was quite a climb from the Great Hall, but Emma would have been horrified if Alicia Spinnet had had to wait for her!
Much better to stand around bouncing while she waited for the Gryffindor girl, rather than the other way around.

wikia article
Emma is the older sister of (repeating) 5th year Romilda Vane. In a lot of ways, she is just like her younger sister. Loud, dramatic and boy crazy. However, she is not as silly as her younger sister, and prefers to think of clever ways to win over the objects of her affection. She also would never giggle. She thinks her sister is a silly little girl, but also would kill for her. The two sisters are remarkably close. This is because they grew up with only each other for company. Their mother was a very high up wizarding lawyer and was never really home. From a young age, Emma raised her sister. Emma and Romilda's father walked out of them when Emma was three and the two girls haven't seen from him since. They hardly even hear from him, except for a card every Christmas and birthday.
During the war, Emma didn't even think about staying and fighting. In her opinion, her loyalties were with her younger sister, and her main priority was getting Romilda out of there alive. The two girls escaped through the Room of Requirement and waited out together in the Hogshead.
The girls were to find out a week after the final battle that their mother had been killed at Hogwarts. She had heard about the battle from one of her co-workers and had rushed to the school to save her girls. Because of this, Emma almost resents her mother. The woman who she had thought never cared about the two of them until it was too late.
