The cloth is 9 inches long and 5 inches wide with a slightly course, bumpy texture.

  I would personally buy more than one at a time because they do wear out, but at least they are inexpensive.

I took the tip seen above and rubbed it against the cloth in a quick back-and-forth motion at a medium pressure for 30 seconds and then looked at the progress.  After that short amount of time, it looked like this:

Clearly, it cleaned the end of the tip effectively. Of course, it didn't do much for the middle and base of the tip, so I continued to clean it.  After about five minutes of cleaning both sides, the tip looked like this:

You'll notice the ash is transferred onto the cloth.  The bumpy texture lifts it from your tip to the cloth, and the dirty the tool, the dirty the cloth will be. After the five minutes, my cloth looked pretty beat up.  

I was curious as to whether or not the dirty part of the cloth was still effective at cleaning, despite the ash. So I took another tip (not as covered as the one above, but it definitely needed cleaning) and only rubbed it where the cloth was silvered.  It took slightly longer to clean the second one, but it wasn't overly long or difficult to make the new one shine as well.

At the end, both of the tips were clean and ready to use.  They weren't entirely spotless, but definitely clean enough to ensure beautiful lines and no ash.  In fact, I think the photos make the tips look less clean than they appear in person.  I'm pleased with the outcome and I'll be sticking with the Colwood clothes.
