Editing can be hard work, but often enough it's worth while. Do you edit your own material often?
You are completely right, on both accounts. Editing can be tiresome, but it is definitely worth the effort and I can feel my work improving with each edit I do. I’m lucky in that I have a very harsh inner critic that allows me to tear my work apart, and I also have some great friends that I can go to whenever I reach a part that I’m not sure about or I don’t know how to approach.
This will be my third or fourth edit, maybe even fifth, of this particular piece, then I’ll be sending it out again to try my luck at finding an agent.
I’ve never really had anyone else edit my original work before, though I did have an experience of it with a fanzine a little over a year ago.
