WIP random writing burst...
I came home from work and sat down and in the last 10 minutes, I managed to get this little piece out lol. I don’t know if it is a flashback, an opening, a vision, or what at this point, just that it was written. But I do know that it has something to do with the Eudorian Chronicles WIP titled Fate of the Phoenix. This is good because this means that my head has finally decided to give me something for the WIP I really actually want to work on lol. Follow the keep reading bunny if you would like to catch a glimpse.
Emberanna ducked and darted around trees and branches as she chased after a tall figure running deeper into the woods. She did not know what the figure was, only that it appeared humanoid. She grew concerned, however, the deeper into the woods they ran. They were running right into the heart of the Creperian lands. If they were to get caught, it would not end well for anyone. The only thing she could figure was whatever she was following had no clue what they were getting themselves into.
“Please, you have to stop! It’s not safe here!” Emberanna doubled her speed, trying to catch the figure. She finally managed to get close enough to realize she was chasing a young man. No one she recognized, but someone who seemed well bent on not being wherever he was running from. She felt the strain on all of her muscles as she tried to keep up with him. She slowed when she realized he had come to a dead stop in a dark clearing ahead of them.
Frowning, Emberanna tuned all of her senses to scanning the clearing. She hated being in this forest.. It had every creepy monster, of every nightmare she could think of, lurking in the shadows. Something very large was stalking them from the other side of that darkness. She cautiously stepped closer to the young man and dared to grasp his arm just above the elbow, gripping it firmly when he tried to pull away.
“Stop fighting me if you want to make it through this,” she hissed at him. He seemed to startle and looked down at her in confusion. “Introductions will have to be made later. We need to get out of here… now.” She gave one good tug and swung him back in the direction of where they had just run from. He let out a shout and she spun back to face the crashing that had begun across the clearing.
A large beast had busted through the brush and glared at her from all fours. Eyes glowed a bright shade of red and saliva hung from it’s lower jaw. Course fur covered any portion of the creature’s body that Emberanna could see. Even on all fours, it had run a good long distance. Quick thought, told her that this was what the young man had been running away from when she found him.
“Not a smart idea, Ember,” Emberanna chided herself as she squared off against the creature.
