question: how would you describe the feeling of being in love?

my answer: i’ll be honest, i’m not sure if i’ve ever been in love with someone before?? but i can try to describe the feeling i’ve had before that’s close enough to being in love lol.

it was gradual, so to say, and it hits you when you least expect it. at first, you think it’s just innocent, platonic feelings you harbor towards the other person. then you two start to get closer, because you just want to get to know them better, you know? who they are, how they are, what they like— whatever you can get out of them just to get a centimeter closer to their true character.

then, you start to look forward to seeing them again, and you get impatient until that time comes. you find yourself thinking about them more than usual, and how they start taking up more time in your thoughts throughout the day. you start to think of scenarios in your head when you’re doing your daily routines, thinking, ‘i wonder how they would think about this?,’ or ‘what if we did this together?,’ and everything in between. you feel your heart palpitates when you think about them, or wait for their replies. you get a little jittery when you’re near them, and your eyes are almost always trying to sneak a glance towards their direction, almost as if they matter to you. you feel inclined to please them, to have them compliment you, and do whatever you can to catch their attention to focus on you and solely you.

you think nothing more about it until your friends point it out to you on how you seem different than before: ‘have you been wearing perfume lately?,’ or ‘you don’t usually do your hair,’ or ‘since when did you start caring on how you look?’ they point out to you that you like this said person, but you refute their claims, stating that you only like them as a friend. but when you’re alone in your bed one night and you’re up in your thoughts thinking about this person again, it finally dawns upon you that, perhaps, you do harbor some romantic feelings for this person, and holy shit does it feel unreal because you didn’t expect yourself to be in that situation, and now you don’t know how to deal with such emotions.
