#Repost @colvinology El Zacatón from Hubbard’s Cave (@hubbards_cave), a 12% imperial stout fermented on toasted oak with almond flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, ancho chiles, guajillo chiles, and habanero chiles, and the Master Grade Qubeley Damned . This smells amazing. I'm definitely getting big hits of chocolate and chiles, but mostly, I'm getting the absolutely divine aroma of fresh cinnamon. It really smells like a stout with snickerdoodle cookies added to it; just spectacular. The sip is an absolute experience. You definitely get the kind of hefty, balanced combo of chocolate and cinnamon you're expecting, but layered over the top is a healthy dose of chiles. I mean, not just a little kick, this beer is straight up spicy. I assumed the particles at the bottom of the can were bits of cinnamon stick, since the cinnamon aroma is so strong, but I now suspect that they're actually bits of chiles floating around. This is extremely reminiscent of Mexican hot chocolate, or a fancy cinnamon-dusted chocolate bar with chili peppers in it. It's delicious, but MAN it caught me off guard 😂. This one is definitely not a chugger, and from the way the spice lingers between sips, people with lower spice tolerances should take their time. To everyone else though, this is a fantastic experience. I'm being a bit dramatic; it's less spicy than say, a bag of hot chips, and the incredible chocolate and cinnamon flavors balance everything out beautifully. If you want a bit of a different experience, but still want the chops and backbone of a spectacular chocolate cinnamon stout, definitely give this one a try...and tell me if it's actually spicy or if I'm just a wimp 😂.
