❝You’re putting a lot of faith in someone that can’t do what you can.❞ Most days, she doesn’t bring it up. Doesn’t know how. There are many different aspects of this world that she’s come to realize she doesn’t understand. Things seen. Hallucinations. Ships falling from the sky. Things that aren’t even human. The idea that Corvo possesses some otherness to him shouldn’t be so hard to acknowledge, following that line of thought.
But then she thinks of the neighbor before the war. The man whose family she invited over for dinners, whose daughter cradled Shaun in her arms when he was only a month old. And she struggles to reconcile the image with what she knows now. She seems to slump in her seat, but not without leaning against him, shoulder-to-shoulder. ❝But you know I’ll do whatever I have to to make sure that faith isn’t misplaced.❞
