the thing is, it doesn't matter whether or not louis appears to be into eleanor anymore. back when this whole thing started and they were both willing to play along, they did a well enough job pretending to be all lovey dovey that at this point they could go without speaking until 2015 and people would still believe they're together. this fanbase has a bad problem with taking things for face value: louis and eleanor say they're dating so they're dating, louis and harry say they are not dating so they aren't. these photo ops aren't about convincing anyone anymore because people are convinced. they do just enough to keep her relevant because that's literally all it takes now. you see all those blogs completely dedicated to eleanor, the so-called calderics? they're so far up eleanor's/elounor's ass that, as i said, she and louis could not even tweet each other for the rest of the year and they'd just be sitting back, waiting for her to post a selfie on instagram. this stopped being about making the relationship believable a long time ago, it's literally just about reminding the public every now and then that he's in a heterosexual relationship and that clearly means he isn't with his band mate harry styles.
it'd be more difficult at this point to build up a relationship between louis/new girlfriend a) because louis is so over bearding any new girl, no matter how lovely and pretty and nice she is he won't play along, and b) because the calderics would be so stuck on eleanor that they wouldn't give the new girl the light of day. the team clearly already don't have the larry shippers on their side, so if they lose the calderics/elounor shippers as well, modest/hjpr is shit outta luck. i mean, yeah the elounor shippers would probably still be on the LOUIS IS STRAIGHT 100% HETERO bandwagon, but none of that would matter if they didn't get on board with girlfriend number two. also, they've dug themselves such a deep hole that a breakup doesn't fit, because if louis and eleanor are ~so loved up~ why would they ever break up??? only one logical explanation, and modest/hjpr don't wanna give the fans any room to think for themselves. although, the calderics/elounor shippers do tend to eat up whatever the hell is fed to them, so they'd probably fall for whatever bullshit excuse they get as for the break up. i honestly don't think they'd hop on the new girlfriend bandwagon though, i can't see that. also, the fanbase is incredibly fickle and insecure so louis cannot for whatever reason be single, because him being single means there's room for ~speculation~, and speculation is any pr firm's worst nightmare. why do you think they try so hard to silence/discredit larry shippers?
tl;dr- the other portion of this fanbase is full of puppets who like to be told what to think and what to say and if someone presents different, contradicting information they can't even comprehend it because their heads are so far up modest/hjpr's asses
