Ells:

2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod: Ells actually has a lot of the Eurobeat songs from Initial D on her iPod so she can stay awake when driving late at night.

the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to: She has a habit of falling asleep on the couch in the historical society office when she’s working late on something instead of going home.

the game they’d destroy everyone else at: ANY RACING GAMES. She’s just so good at them.

the emoticon they’d use most often: Probably :P since she’s always kidding around.

what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep: A lot of mumbling and desperately searching for a Dunkin Donuts to get coffee.

their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.: She’s originally from Boston, so Dunkin Donuts coffee is her thing.

how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump: She rewatches old Top Gear episodes that she loves.

what they wanted to be when they grew up: World Rally Champion!

their favorite kind of weather: Good driving weather - colder, but dry.

thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?): She’s an alto, but she’s not the best singer and she’s very aware of it.

how/what they like to draw or doodle: Lots of little engineering innovations are in her notes!

Julien:

2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod: He LOVES Depeche Mode. He has their entire discography on there.

the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to: He’s a graduate student, so he’s been known to fall asleep in the campus library.

the game they’d destroy everyone else at: Due to his businessperson parents, Monopoly.

the emoticon they’d use most often: He’s not really the emoji sort, but he’s been known to sometimes use the old standard :) once in a while.

what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep: He’s quiet as it is, but he gets even more quiet when he’s tired.

their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.: Any dessert beverage. He’s a dessert nut.

how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump: DESSERT.

what they wanted to be when they grew up: His parents tried to groom him as a Formula 1 driver, which didn’t work out (he got into an accident that mentally scarred him for life at age 16). He himself just wanted to be an academic.

their favorite kind of weather: He actually enjoys light rain.

thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?): He doesn’t sing, but if he did he’d have a surprisingly decent voice, which would shock him.

Happy 26th birthday, Elisa "Ells" Robbins! (2/27/1989)

Ells: Ells is a miniature version of her father. She resembles him physically (right down to the hair, although his is lower) and they share their perverted sense of humor. Her mom is very frustrated that there are basically two of them to deal with. Like her dad, Ells tries her very best to be an honest mechanic since he made sure she knew there weren’t enough of those!

Corey: Corey’s family is made up of philosophy-loving educators - her father is a philosophy professor, her mother is an elementary school librarian, and her older brother Mark is a high school teacher who actually teaches a philosophy class. Corey actively combines her parents’ careers by being an archivist who also has a degree in philosophy. During the story it’s eventually revealed that she’s been working on a philosophy PhD. the entire time.

Clyde: Clyde’s father is a Londoner and his mother is from Amsterdam, so he’s spent a lot of time trying to balance two different traditions and two different life philosophies. Fortunately, these two countries have a lot of shared history, so he has an easier time with this than many other people do. His mother was actually a really good softball player in college (baseball and softball being popular in the Netherlands), so he was raised to love football (soccer) by his father and baseball by his mother, although he never played either. He does enjoy experimenting with speed skating, though, another hobby he inherited from his athletic Dutch mother. She, much like her son, really does enjoy going fast.
