without meaning to, i’m writing in a new way than i usually do - somewhat out of order. 

by which i mean, i’m writing each chapter, and the moment i feel myself loosing steam, i jump to the next chapter even if i’m not finished the previous. 

and because of that? this is my progress after only 4 days...

This book has gone through about four different names now, and none of them have ever felt totally right, so I’m hugely relieved this one fits. Ironically, it was the name of a story I wrote way back in high school that has nothing to do with this book at all!

I’ve been editing like crazy the past few days, so I think this was the last line I wrote in the unnamed rewrite that may no longer be unnamed! ^^

Because he was the nightmare of the waking world.

So, I’m stopping for the night, but Godless is almost at 20,000 words? After... a week of writing??? If this doesn’t prove how much I love this story, I don’t know what does! 

As a comparison: Shoreless’ first draft was 87,000 words and completed in two months (my two months off, tbf, so I was writing every day for those two months straight. 

I’ve written like 1/5(ish) of Shoreless’ word count in one week... that’s crazy to me. So, so crazy. 

Godless

They don’t exist, not really. And so, who better to undertake the impossible task of finding the Gods that have vanished from this world? Five unlikely companions, and even less likely survivors, battling for their right to an existence. 

The first is dead. The second is a child of a childless man. The third is the one who will kill. The fourth has no future. And the fifth? 

Well, the fifth is something the world has been long overdue: A Storm.

'Cal’s eyes opened slowly. They were like the ocean, really. The deepest blue depths, waiting to swallow up a sailor who wasn’t too careful.’

“Mother of Gods, his name is Rical, Spinel! Are you so far removed from this Plain that you really think I’d hurt him?”

‘“You haven’t answered me,” Laszlo said again, his hands covering Cal’s – to keep him gripping tightly, he told himself.’

‘Cal was silent a lot, he said little, but the words were always there, lingering just behind his eyes. Laszlo watched as the thoughts flickered and danced in Cal’s eyes – like the stars in the lake behind them.’

4. Who is someone they’ve hurt? - Cal 

Cal makes it his life mission to never cause problems for anyone, to the point where it’s a really big problem of his. Actually, he’s probably hurt Klaris more than he realises. He hates her, despises her, resents her for causing all this, when actually, he doesn’t have the slightest idea what she’s done for him. 

9. What is something that would break them emotionally? - Laszlo

Laszlo was broken emotionally, like utterly shattered, when he was a child, thus he believes he can’t be broken like that again. He’s wrong. Cal breaks him very quickly - seeing someone actually standing up for him, helping him, and also for telling him off. That ruins him. 

10. Sacrifice the one to save many, or save the one no matter the cost? - Mae

This is a weirdly perfect one for Maesha... for reasons... and so it’s kinda hard to say without spoiling something about her? So I’ll say: both, so long as the sacrifice and the cost is herself. 

14. What is something that never fails to make them excited? - Fifth

Um... everything? Like literally everything? The sky. Grass. Laszlo’s eyes. Maesha’s hugs. Cal’s voice. Spinel’s laugh. Everything except the dark.
