8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

“No.” Hux’s tone was unapologetic, his lips pressing into a tight line, and he fixed his gaze on Poe: “I wish you could see things my way, even if it’s only for a moment. You’re trying to save a system, a government that isn’t worth saving. The rule of the New Republic has been nothing but chaos, and we’re trying to end that. To bring stability to the galaxy.”

“By subjugating every planet that doesn’t fall in line by force?” Poe scoffed. Then, he shook his head, looking away: “I don’t want to fight with you.”

“But we’re already fighting, aren’t we?” Hux’s voice was small, pained: “Outside of this room. The moment we go back to where we’re from, we’re fighting, and not just with words. The moment we leave here, our fights get deadly.”

This is a snippet from the break-up scene in “Lines in the Sand”. Since that fic is set loosely in canon-verse, Hux and Poe’s ideological differences, and the fact that they’re on different sides of an intergalactic war, are the elephant in the room that has to be adressed by both of them at some point. I wanted to bring across that both of them suffer from this, but without drawing a clear ideological line, since yes, both of them think their side is in the right, and I think I managed that quite well. 

33. How do you feel about crack?

I love it. Crack ships, crack ideas, crack treated seriously, every form of it. I mean, I’ve written a lot of it. I think that, as a fan and fic writer, you’ve got to preserve a sense of humor, otherwise you’ll end up taking stuff to seriously, and we all know where that ends…

37. Talk about your current wips.

THEY HAUNT ME. Sitting in my brain and WIP list, whispering “finish us. You promised!”. Looking at me with sad, disappointed eyes when I come up with another new idea.

- the SHIELD university AU road trip (SHIELD as in WWE, not the MCU one)

- Ben/Poe modern AU, wherein they both own dogs and meet at the dog park. Because dogs. 

- Love and War ‘verse, Hux decides that Starkiller (his beloved war horse) should get his long-deserved retirement.

- another SW modern AU: Ben and Hux are flatmates. Ben and Rey have the cutest long-distance relationship involving lots of skyping. Hux and Poe have phone sex. Dirty, loud phone sex. 

- Hux loves Millicent and dislikes Kylo. But Millicent loves Kylo, and Kylo loves Millicent. Basically, cupid is a cat. 

peony: au or canon?

Depends on the fandom. For some I prefer to write AUs, for others canon (divergence). I guess it depends on how comfortable I feel writing in the canon setting - for example, with Les Mis, I didn’t do it much because I don’t know all that much about the time period and was very unsure about if I could do it justice, so AUs it was/is. Star Wars, otoh, I’m totally comfortable with the canon setting, since it’s a very open universe.
