âYou sound crazy,â Neil said, âHow could caring about someone possibly put them in the suspension with us?â
âYou're in my suspension,â Andrew stated, as if that made perfect sense.
Neil didn't know what he could say. That it was impossible to 'pull someone inâ with them, or that the person Andrew was worried about would soon enough be suspended? Neil wasn't supposed to know this, he wasn't supposed to be in 2016, and he most certainly wasn't supposed to care about the patient.
âAndrew, I'm tired,â Neil said. He was tired: tired of pretending he didn't know what was going on, tired of caring about a someone that exists only as much as he did, tired of waiting.
However, Neil was relieved. He had Andrew, and soon Kevin would join their duo. Then Andrew and Kevin could bond, and Neil could put his thoughts back on track. These people were dangerous, violent creatures who didn't care about anyone besides themselves. Or so he thought. Andrew had been different. Andrew had protected Neil the past 50 years they had been in Swanset. Andrew had cared so much about trying to 'saveâ them at the beginning. And Andrew had broken. Now a shell of the person he once was, Andrew, in terms of the mission, was in perfect condition, but anyone who knew he before would realize he was depressed and hopeless. Too bad anyone that cared about Andrew is dead now, or has completely forgotten about him.
Except me. Neil thought. Neil cares about Andrew, he doesn't want Andrew to suffer like he had. Â
