Cassandra had never been a big fan of rain back in the kingdom, but being out in the world made it ten times worse. There was no warm fireplace or dresser full of dry clothes waiting for her at home; there was no home waiting for her at all. Nothing but more cold wet empty trails stretching out in front of her.
It was one thing to keep walking during a light drizzle, but this downpour was quite another thing. So Cassandra dashed quickly into the nearest sheltered space she could find, wringing rain water out of her tunic and checking her bag for damage (not that she had many possessions to damage). It was a quiet, secluded space, not one many people traveled... so it took her a long time to realize she wasn't alone.
Cassandra turned slowly, facing the stranger. They seemed just as apprehensive of the rain, if not even more so, and none too happy to have another person here. But more importantly, they were green. Cassandra had heard legends, but she'd never really encountered anything like this yet, and she wasn't quite sure about what they wereā a witch, an ogre, a goblin, an orc, there were a lot of potentially green beingsā let alone what to do. Did she mention it? Would she be turned into a toad for doing so? She had to say something, she couldn't just keep staring.
"Uh. Hi." Smooth. "Sorry, just trying to stay dry." Please don't use magic on me.
