Idk if I've told you guys this but I'll tell u again if I have: Amara is petrified of being in water. It doesn't have to be deep water. She just can't stand it, freezes up, gets hysterical if she can't get out easily. Water is just a no-go for her.

last reblog - avoiding (potentially) repeating myself about 'elevators?' but here's a new silly thought that i know i haven't posted before.
beyond the hidden narrative purposes of that line that go far beyond a punchline, if u think (as i often do) about what the in-universe explanation for a character's behavior would be, without just saying "for writing reasons"... why would maeve ask for elevators when she could probably just like, climb up the side of the building? or even RUN up the side? literally in ep 1 we see her run up a wall like nbd. if it's urgent why would she bother with an elevator?
from maeve's POV? it's to annoy homelander. make him wait for her to go up 31 floors at the regular, snail's-pace-to-Supes, speed. this scene is brief but i love it so much. it says SO much about maeve and homelander's relationship. they're both trying to be so obnoxious to each other (but, i must admit, he is the winner of the obnoxious-off).
boutta get crazy and kin queen maeve
"What I lack in good looks I make up for in charm," she thought, moments away from dropping her bag of groceries onto the elevator floor and then audibly saying "I hate myself" to nobody.
