There was a simplicity to making the dead walk. She’d been taught years ago, but now it came as easy as breathing.
Sickly green magic curled around Eleeria’s fingers as the row of broken and bloodied bodies sat on the plain of the Barrens. Mass works of magic took concentration, but thankfully, these bodies weren’t particularly talkative. It left her plenty of time for companionable silence as she went down the line.
It was a delicate magic she wove. Like plucking the notes from a tune only she could see, Eleeria’s magic spun the bodies a new purpose on the tips of her fingers. Walk, fight until they couldn’t any longer. Die, for the second time in as many days most likely. In concert, directed by the magic she applied, the bodies stood up of their own accord. There was no thought behind their eyes -- the perfect soldiers, to obey every command. Silent and still, for now.
A delighted smile crossed her face. “Excellent, perfect.” She clapped her hands together, cutting off the magical connection between her and them so they wouldn’t drain too much of her energy. Silent sentinels, ready for orders. “They’re ready.”

Since Eleeria’s departure for Argus, Avie had hardly seen the woman. Finding the time between them was hard, and when the Dawnspire had been invaded by Baal’s rogue forces any chance of catching up with her sharp friend was gone until The Sunguard’s home was secured. Now though, the demons had been beaten back and Avie awaited the arrival of her friend with a glass of mulled wine more expensive than was entirely reasonable. At the sound of the bell, Avie set it aside and swept up to the door with a charming smile.
“Eleeria! Returned all in once piece, I see?”
“Well, all the pieces of me that went to Argus,” the lithe orange haired woman replied with a mischevious smirk as she waved her magical wooden hand. As she went to step over the threshold, Avie held up her own hand to pause her with a twinkle of her own in her eye and an upwards glance.“Now, El- it would be bad luck for me to let you pass under the mistletoe without even so much as a peck!”“Oh, simply disasterous,” Eleeria replied with a sly little grin before promptly leaning forward to kiss her friend. Whatever would the neighbours say?

Redrawing an unfinished piece from 2018. I’ll post the WIP alongside the finished product at some point!
I really wanted to bring in the aesthetic of armor while keeping the high fashion vibe I was clearly going for with the previous WIP, so I redesigned her outfit. One thing I noticed between the sketch from two years ago and now is how clean and decisive my sketches are these days. Before they were a total mess; now they’re very sure.
Eleeria doesn’t know too much arcane magic, but like any good elf, she knows enough to float the sandcastles to make a proper Nagrand. (Nasand....Sagrand?)
I thought you might like to see some of the many people I’ve met at the beach this year. I took a lot of pictures of me and them for you, so you can see how many different people there are out there on Azeroth.
I’ll make sure to tell you the stories when I’m home. I’m sorry that work keeps me away so much, but I should be back within the week.
I love you. Take care of Cha’gah, alright?

Picture One
“I hope you don’t mind that we made you into a sand mermaid.” Eleeria dangled upside down from a tree branch, the SELFIE camera that had been lovingly gifted to her by a friend years ago held in both hands. She smiled at Deranan, holding up the camera to check the angle. Upside down, it struggled to focus on the draenei woman’s features.
“Oh no, not at all.” Deranan laughed, waving a hand as Eleeria nearly put the lens into her face. “It was rather fun. You said you wanted a picture?”
“Aye.” Reaching up with her free hand, Eleeria hoisted herself off of the tree branch she’d been dangling from. Her toes scraped the sand, and she dropped down with a hup!, looking up at the other woman. “My daughter hasn’t met a lot of people -- she’s five. I was wondering if you would mind taking a picture with me? There’s all these birds here--” Eleeria gestured, the camera waving back towards the trees bordering the beach. A cacophony of sound and color seemed to await them there, the cries of joyous birds enjoying their summer day and flitting between the branches. “--And I thought she might like to see them, and also a draenei for the first time.”
Deranan nodded. “Alright. She hasn’t seen a draenei before?” She moved a bit closer, Eleeria positioning them both so that the trees full of the bright-colored birds were strategically in the background. The elf held out her hand, pulling it up as far as she could to still get the background in the view of the camera. Sliding it to the side ever so slightly, she hummed, pleased with the layout of the shot.
“Well, we don’t have many draenei in the Horde.”
“Oh, that’s true. You should bring her to the beach next year, then.” Thankfully, Deranan didn’t have to duck to get into the small elf’s shot; she positioned herself so she wouldn’t be covered by Eleeria’s fluffy hair, smiling for the picture.
“I will! On three alright? One, two…”
The flash went off, the two women grinning for the camera as the sudden light brought flocks of birds flying from their homes -- a bright flash of wings and song in the background.

Picture Two
“Hey!”
Eleeria called out to the mixture of rigging and line that hung from a nearby ship. She had seen movement within the cleverly constructed makeshift hammock just a few minutes ago, a hand reaching down for a bottle of alcohol before placing it back into the sand. Still, she had called out a few times now and received no answer; it seemed as if the resident of the hammock wanted to be left alone with the bottle for the moment. As the sun moved across the sky, heading towards evening in Stranglethorn, the insects buzzed around the bottles laid underneath the rigging. Eleeria hefted her camera, crouching down and peering through the lens to zoom in on the scene.
“Okay, well, say cheese, whoever you are.”
The man in the ‘hammock’ brushed away the buzzing intruders to his nap, raising the bottle just enough that Eleeria knew she’d been heard. She quickly snapped the picture: the hand holding the bottle into the sky, sunlight reflecting off of the glass and illuminating the mosquitos flitting around it.
“Thanks!”
The only response that greeted her was a pleased, tired snore.

Picture Three (plus many, many outtakes)
“Beach picture time for Bean!” Eleeria hefted the SELFIE camera in her hands as she called out, taking her position to the side of the shot. Behind her, Pyraenna hefted the baby crawg into the air, showing him off for the camera.
“Yeah!” Py cheered as the snap of the selfie actuated, the baby crawg wiggling its feet.
“Can I pet him?” Eleeria looked over her shoulder to the other woman, who nodded.
“Sure you can.” Carefully, she set Bean back down from his picture pose onto the soft sand. Eleeria smiled, her ears flicking as she let out a soft coo and moved over to pet the baby crawg.
“Oh, you’re so cute~” She lavished Bean in pets under the watchful eye of Py. “Let’s get some more pictures with him.”
“Okay!” Py pushed her hat back on her head, sliding in close for another selfie with Bean.
“We say ‘Bean’ on three!”

Picture Four
“Hiya! You said you were looking for people to take pictures with?”
Eleeria looked down at the goblin who approached her, smiling fondly at her and the felstalker puppy who dogged her steps. She had shouted to try and find more people to take pictures with, as the daylight waned across Stranglethorn, many people retiring to food or dancing as the evening went on, rendering it too dark to continue to swim safely. Thankfully, it seemed many were inclined to answer her call -- or at least one enthusiastic person, which was all she had really anticipated.
“Aye, I’m looking to take pictures for my daughter. I’m Eleeria.”
“Blitzi, nice to meet you.” Eleeria sat down in the sand next to the other woman, the felstalker puppy climbing into Blitzi’s lap as they set up for the picture. As daylight waned, the stars above provided plenty of lighting in the sun’s stead. This far from any city, they were bright and vibrant, the moons giving off an ethereal glow that lit the beach well enough to see by. “Are you enjoying the beach?”
“Yeah, I am. I like your hair, the gears are really neat.”
“Hey, thanks!”
Eleeria hefted the camera, positioning it to get goblin, elf, and felstalker into the screen at once. “Say cheese~!”

Picture Five
Eleeria swayed to the music, as many musicians had pulled out their instruments, providing a beat to dance to as the evening’s party raged on. She was never one to be a wallflower; if anything, she was happy to dance with anyone who asked or seemed interesting. But tonight, she was on a mission: her camera was grasped firmly in hand, and as she shifted her hips in time with the music, she moved from partner to partner, always asking the same question.
“Will you take a picture with me?” She had slid into the dancing company of a troll woman who reminded her of her brief and mosquito-filled time in Nazmir, though Eleeria was hardly an expert on different troll tribes. Chalking it up to coincidence -- her knowledge, after all, extended mostly to those trolls in her Warband, and the ones she had had the fortune to meet in Orgrimmar -- she smiled up at the tall woman, who offered a smile in turn.
“While we’re dancing?” The troll seemed highly amused by her determination, if anything. Eleeria shrugged, holding up her camera.
“Sure, why not? What’s your name?” They moved in tandem with the rhythm, Eleeria positioning the camera with fluid strokes, the evening’s light providing more than enough for the camera to focus by. To be certain, Eleeria wiggled her fingers, her magic brightening the sky with arcane ‘stars’, twinkling above the dancers -- who cheered at the sudden ambience.
“Kal’isha. And yours?” Eleeria grinned, and Kal’isha leaned into the picture, joining the gesture into a fluid dance motion that -- once the shutter sound reverberated across the dance floor -- had her leaning out in a graceful gesture that had Eleeria pause to admire for a moment. She blinked, realizing her appreciation had left her a beat behind the music, and moved to catch up.
“Eleeria. Nice to meet you. Thanks for the picture!”
