“A run saved is worth a run scored” is not just true for cricket, it is as much valid in the world of manufacturing. Hence, reducing waste, adopting lean, light-weighting, reducing energy consumption, reducing rejections, in a nutshell – doing more with less is the key to sustainability. Digitalization empowers manufacturers to embark on initiatives […]

Introduction to the Guitar Pedal Project - "Flatline"
Following is the introduction to my new project, a guitar pedal.
The basic operation of the pedal is quite simple. The onboard controller will sample the signal coming into the pedal at a user changeable rate. The sampled signal (which will be the voltage at time of sampling) will then be output from the microcontroller through the output of the amplifier, and held at that voltage for a set amount of time. This effect is illustrated in the picture below:
On the graph above there are two lines, the light orange/red line is the original signal coming into the food pedal, while the green line is the output of the box. The signal of the line is sampled at a set interval (where the two lines intersect each other) and then outputs it for a set amount of time (the flat parts). It should be noted that in actuality there would be no sloping line between the different flat bits, it would simply jump between them.
At the speed of sampling, and holding in the above graph the effect of the pedal would be small. However by increasing either the time between samples or holding time the effect can become overwhelming. I am also thinking of adding a toggle for a random mode for both the sample rate and the holding rate, to give the box a bit of magic.
I will update this project when the parts I ordered have# arrived, and I begin construction of the project.
