Can Overwork Ruin Your Health?
 There is no question that Americans work longer hours, and have less vacation time, than their European counterparts. This makes us industrious and ambitious, right?
Maybe, but there is a downside, also. Just as with athletic and sports performance, the body needs to be able to recover from anything it does. If working long hours means getting too little sleep, and the stress becomes chronic, overwork may contribute to long-term health problems.
These days you can take work with you everywhere you go, and it takes some discipline to shut down. The blue lights from our electronic devices can interrupt sleep patterns, even when we shut them off for the night. The electro-magnetic influences created by all our electronics may be more taxing than we realize. Some studies indicate that the cell phones and computers are having a disturbing effect on cellular function. The electromagnetic field they emit passes through almost anything, including walls, and interferes with the normal waveform patterns of the body. We don’t know all the effects of this, and may not for many years. No one is regulating these energy fields. The best thing you can do is protect yourself, or balance any damage. If work is keeping you up at night, due to stress or putting in long hours, your health is at risk. No matter what many people claim, only a very small percentage can sustain themselves on less than seven hours of sleep. Studies show that sleep deprivation shows up in poor performance on tasks, and slower reaction time when driving.Â
Long working hours, with insufficient recovery time may increase your risk of heart disease and Type II Diabetes. According to a Finnish study of people from 14 countries, people who worked longer than a 48-hour week were more likely to abuse alcohol.
People also tend to over-eat, particularly high calorie carbs, when tired and stressed. The body is asking for some relief, and the fastest and handiest is the junk food so readily available.
When both parents are in stressful jobs, family life may suffer, as may the quality of life for our children. Families must use daycare, there is no one preparing nutritious meals, and less time is spent together, possibly disrupting the moral and character development of our children, putting  more stress on families.
It has been said that 80% of the U.S. population has stressed adrenals, and the other 20% are in denial. One of the most important things you can do to help your body weather stress is to support your adrenal glands. They have everything to do with immune health, heart health, sleep, blood sugar balance, weight, muscle strength, and libido.

A shoulder launched missile intercepting a passenger aircraft and shooting it down is no longer science fiction. Pro-Russian separatists were probably the perpetrators behind the crash of Flight MH17, which left Amsterdam for Kuala Lumpur last July, due to a ground to air missile hit.
All 227 passengers and 12 crew members died in the terrible terrorist attack, which raised grave concerns as to the security and safety of civilian aviation, not to mention the global economic crisis that could ensue due to the cancellation of commercial, civilian flights.
This necessity to safeguard civilian aircraft from missiles is a constant concern for many in the aviation and security industries. External threats are both complex and costly to handle, dangerous at times, must be eliminated safely, effectively and quickly, without any damage to the aircraft itself.
Missiles usually home-in on an aircraft’s heat or electro-magnetic signature. One of the most effective means of preventing missiles from detecting aircrafts is a radar, and thwarting missiles is usually carried out using Electronic Warfare (EW).
Detecting an approaching missile’s radar lock triggers a chain of technical processes, one of which is creating an electro-magnetic “screen” which functions as an aircraft protective cover which disrupts the missile’s homing process, deflects it and ultimately neutralized its impact, thereby preventing a mass-casualty event and an eventual disruption of commercial aviation.
The creation of an electro-magnetic “protective canopy” around the aircraft is hardly simple, primarily because the pod which houses an airplane’s other electronic devices, which provide the missile jamming capabilities, is installed outside the fuselage, so it must meet each and every aviation safety and security standard.
This pod – which comprises the entire array of electronics, electro-optics, imaging and video – is made of light metal. It is produced by ADMAR, one of Israel’s largest and most advanced manufacturing plants, located at Bar-Lev Industrial Park, between Acre and Karmiel.
Each pod weighs about 100kg, including the electronic equipment it houses. Its length reaches about 2.5 meters.
Established in the mid-1970’s, ADMAR is privately owned, employing 110. Among its major defense customers: IAI, RAFAEL, Elbit and others. The company’s aviation products and solutions comply with the most stringent dedicated standards, among which are AS9100 Revision C, ISO9001, etc.
The manufacturing facility has 35 machining centers capable of churning out parts up to the size of 6000x3000x2000 mm, a diameter of 950 mm and a maximal length of 5,000 mm. The plant has 8 new 5-axle processing centers.
ADMAR Metals has its own dedicated Additive Manufacturing division, which prints titanium parts of up to 240x240x290 mm. ADMAR is the first company to receive the AS-9100 compliance certificate for its Additive Manufacturing technology.
ADMAR has one of Israel’s most advanced assembly division, complete with all the complicate certifications for inserting ruggedized and auxiliary units. These compliance certificates have been issued by IAI, RAFAEL and Elbit.
ADMAR is among the presenters at the upcoming Autonomous Unmanned Systems & Robotics Expo on November 25-26 2014

On the 29th August 1831 Michael Faraday achieved one of his greatest successes, discovering how to make electricity from magnetism.
Faraday's first 'Electromagnetic Induction Ring' is made from 2 sections of wire insulated with cotton and then coiled around opposite sides of an iron ring. When Faraday passed an electric current through one coil he induced an electric current in the other coil, which flowed for a very brief period of time and caused the needle on a galvanometer to move.
He wrote in his scientific notebook:
Aug 29th 1831
1. Expts on the production of Electricity from Magnetism, etc. etc.
2. Have had an iron ring made (soft iron), iron round and 7/8 inches thick and ring 6 inches in external diameter. Wound many coils of copper wire round one half, the coils being separated by twine and calico – there were 3 lengths of wire each about 24 feet long and they could be connected as one length or used as separate lengths. By trial with a trough each was insulated from the other. Will call this side of the ring A. On the other side but separated by an interval was wound wire in two pieces together amounting to about 60 feet in length, the direction being as with the former coils; this side call B.
3. Charged a battery of 10 pr. plates 4 inches square. Made the coil on B side one coil and connected its extremities by a copper wire passing to a distance and just over a magnetic needle (3 feet from iron ring). Then connected the ends of one of the pieces on A side with battery; immediately a sensible effect on needle. It oscillated and settled at last in original position. On breaking connection of A side with Battery again a disturbance of the needle.
4. Made all the wires on A side one coil and sent current from battery through the whole. Effect on needle much stronger than before.
5. The effect on the needle then but a very small part of that which the wire communicating directly with the battery could produce.
From this experiment Faraday would go on to develop the first ever generator a few months later.
