Military training paving the way for EET major
About to enter his sophomore year, Wyatt Laigaie is an electrical engineering technology major at Bloomsburg University who is a specialist in the Pennsylvania National Guard
“I joined to serve my country and to have help paying for my college,” Laigaie says. “I chose Bloomsburg, because it had the program of study that I wanted to get my degree in.”
His role in the military helps him prepare for his future.
“I chose my job, because it would help me with my degree,” Laigaie says. “My job in the military helped by giving me some base knowledge in all things electrical. I train at the Elizabethtown armory. My job is to fix the electronic sight systems on ATGM Stryker’s, Javelin Missile Systems, LRAS3, and am cross trained to work on Night Vison Googles.”
With a heavy workload, Bloomsburg offers support to people like Wyatt.
“The military office, the support we get from staff, and MAC-RB (Military Academic Credit-Review Board) program is really what makes Bloomsburg military friendly,” Wyatt says.
