Soft launch
Featuring Roachie: he hunted illegally in the king’s forest to feed his starving siblings and accidentally killed the elder guardian of the king’s beloved deer pack.
Luckily, the king was actually impressed with Roachie’s hunting/tracking skills. So instead of imprisonment & torture, he hires him as a special guard for the prince, since the heir to the kingdom has a nasty habit of running away from his security guards and getting into trouble, and no one yet has been able to keep up with his escape-artist talents and track him down. Roachie begrudgingly takes the position. At least it pays decent to send back to his siblings!
Oh yeah, and the prince?
Picture this; a young King Argut marries a beautiful princess from a neighboring kingdom that has just been destroyed. She’s the only survivor and has nothing to offer his kingdom but love and loyalty. Except six days into their marriage, she runs away. She comes back in 5 years, mid-labor, and stays long enough to hand over her newborn son to her husband before running off again.
King Argut dutifully raises his wife’s son even if it changes his reputation from being a benevolent and wise king to a spineless cuck king.
But someone has to raise this kid— and young Prince Moss certainly keeps things interesting… especially considering that the extremely unique circumstances of his birth means he’s the focus of over 700 different prophecies the kingdom has amassed through generations.
Raising him was a wild adventure in itself, and the king is just proud the prince made it to adulthood.
But those prophecies are nearing on the horizon and Prince Moss won’t stop running away. The king already lost his wife, he can’t lose the boy as well. Luckily, the new guard is skilled at tracking.
Eventually it’ll be a love story between Prince Moss and Roachie.
And also huge themes of found family between prince moss and his adoptive father king argut. And mostly humor about the stupid amount of prophecies about the prince. And some fun world building.

Oooooooooo more lore~
Prince Moss is a prince by birth, and heir to Argut’s kingdom…. But he isn’t Argut’s son. Most people know this, but Roachie was raised in a shack in the woods and is shocked by every new bit of royal-family-scandal he hears.
@piraninjedi I fixed the spelling error :3
Did 5 year old Prince Moss have the same outfit as 23 year old Prince Moss? Absolutely.
Working on characters design— and once I figure it out I MUST work on consistency.
More round/organic designs for Prince Moss, and soft airy colors.
More angular & layers for Roachie.
Thoughts on the design? Can u tell they are falling in love?
Does Prince Moss and Roachie have a ship name? I’m thinking Mossie or Mochie? Or maybe Roass? None of this sounds good. :/ maybe we have to dig into Prince Moss’s ACTUAL name instead of his pet name from the king?
Suggestions welcome!

Moss just had a crush! Let him liiiiiive~
Poor Roachie. The royal family drama is wicked wild. But it’s better than prison!
Meant to post this for Valentine’s Day. Whoopsie!
Anyway. Eventually Prince Moss’s feelings won’t be so unreciprocated.
Got another one.
Prince Moss probably falls super hard and fast for his new, sarcastic and moody body guard. Can you blame him? The king finally found him someone who can keep up with his escape tendencies and put up with his bullshit.
Roachie really doesn’t give a shit about the Prince’s feelings— but it is good job security and it helps him keep control when Moss gets too antsy.
