a quick trip to the beginning of theĀ āEl Choroā trail, a trek which takes 3 days and traverses the Cordillera Real mountains and Parque Nacional Cotopata. it begins at La Cumbre (4725m), the highest point on the La PazāCoroico highway, and climbs to 4859m before descending 3250m into the humid Yungas and the village of Chairo. The route isĀ 57km and crosses a rapid change in climate, vegetation and wildlife as the altitude changes from rainy and cold altiplano to humid forest. this trek is popular among bolivians during Semana Santa, or holy week. photos from april 10th, 2017.
