"Sir, I am very grateful you gave me life.." As a contrast to a certain, small, icy captain.
❝ As you should be. ❞ It was different with--- YON. Yon that was his name! He was getting better at remembering it. The other had expressed a wish to be referred to that instead of the number Mayuri had initially given him. Given, yon was a number too... Oh well. There was a big difference between the life Mayuri had given Yon, and the one he had given Hitsugaya. In a way, Mayuri had not given Hitsugaya a life - he had preserved it, or saved it, if you will. Hitsugaya would’ve certainly been dead without his assistance ( which now didn’t sound as too bad of an option, since Hitsugaya didn’t treat him any differently than before ). Yon, on the other hand? He never would’ve existed at all without Mayuri. Mayuri was, in a way, his ‘ Father ‘. In the same sense that Nemu was his ‘ Daughter ‘. It wasn’t exactly the same though, since Nemu and him shared the same DNA, while Yon did not. Nevertheless, Yon was his creation. Mayuri was pleased with him. He was polite, hard-working... And ALIVE. He was a far greater success than Mayuri ever imagined. Looking at him made him think of his own triumph and that he had literally underestimated his own ability. He was better than he thought. Yes, Mayuri liked Yon. It was why he was trying to show him the kindness of referring to him by his chosen name. Trying being the key word.
