Ezreal brings a hand to the back of his neck in a rare moment of meekness, gloved fingers fidgeting with the curled strands that fall near them as a faint blush spreads across his cheeks. It’s a small display of weakness he’d ever deny having, but somehow, it feels natural to show it to Ekko. Where fire burned, ashes remain, he guessed. He couldn’t have hoped to come out unscathed from their relationship. “Yeah,” there’s a tentative curl on his lip, a smile that’s not fully fleshed and held back by—- was that embarrassment in his features? “It’s been a while. Sorry I kinda ghosted you after falling apart, city’s big and we just... never crossed.”
But here they were, weren’t they? Finally seeing each other after months, even if that was common place while they were dating, it was weird to come back and not have a reason to visit Zaun. And when he did have a reason, Ezreal never found him in the crowd. After a while he stopped looking, figuring it was senseless to look for someone like Ekko on a main street, and without effort and without thinking, he found him.
He’s thought of this moment countless a few times. But now, he doesn’t know what to say.
“Thanks, man.” Ezreal visibly brightens at the compliment, hand dropping from his hair to rest inside his jacket’s pocket. His smile is bigger now, and he finally allows himself to look at the Zaunite in the eyes instead of being distracted bt his new accessories, clothes or, well. Everything about him. “Nice to know I’ve still got my style after the hair cut.” And the change in boots, shirt and jeans. But Ekko didn’t need to know that, he’d notice it on his own. With some luck. Maybe the lower cut would catch his eye—- Wait, what? No. We’ve been over this, Ezreal. You are not flirting with your Ex.
“So what have you been up to? Looks like Zaun’s kept you plenty busy.”
