Hello, I hope you have a great day 💚
I come here to ask about Movie!Liir AU, you're making, as I really love all the content you're making for it, but I have a hard time finding something very specific that intrigues me.
I've seen in those tidbits of content of how Glinda would adopt Liir and his sister upon meeting them in the orphanage, and I do recall Elphaba not being the best mother to Liir in the books, all things considered, while also seeing plenty of posts clarifying how movie!Liir story would generally be happier, for obvious reasons, but this is where I wonder.
What is Elphaba and Liir's relationship in this AU exactly? Like, where is she when Liir gets adopted by Glinda? Why is Liir in the orphanage? Have you answered this question already, or is it some kind of spoiler for content you're making? Because I'm looking and looking and loving and reblogging all your post on the way there, but I can't find this specific tidbit of information and curiosity is killing me, because on one hand if Elphaba still fails to be a good mother (no idea how) then it makes sense for Liir and Nor to wind up in orphanage and then with Glinda, but if Elphaba is obviously a good mother then how did we got here with Glinda also stepping up. And where is Fiyercrow?
Hi, thanks for the ask!
I don't think I've answered this publicly but I'm fine saying as I've come with the backstory:
So the ending of For Good happens the same, Elphaba fakes her death, Fiyero is the scarecrow and the two started making their way to somewhere they can feel safe and loved. The problem is that it's a looooong journey and Elphaba and Fiyero realise that they're expecting (thanks to ALAYM) so they decide to temporarily go back to Oz and find a place to give birth.
(Probably Kiamo Ko, if not probably an Animal sanctuary)
They decide for his own safety, that he'll stay in Oz as they don't know how long the journey will be and a newborn baby in a dangerous hot desert isn't the best idea. So Chistery (or some other Animal) decides to find a safe place to be raised and that's The Cloister of St. Glinda which is also part orphanage.
Liir has no idea about his origins but people suspect he's related to The Wicked Witch due to his bright green eyes and later developing magic similar to her's.
One day a group of witch hunters find out about Liir and try to "melt" him (aka drown him in the Vinkus/Winkie Country swamps) but is saved by Glinda who was nearby.
Due to the trauma of nearly dying due to people thinking he's the next Wicked Witch he has... let's just say a bad relationship with Elphaba even if he doesn't knows she's his mother yet.
When Liir is older, his visions show him who his parentage is and that they survived so when he finds them he's angry but not that they left him behind (he's pretty happy with Nor, Trism and his other friends) but because of how they treated his auntie Glinda and that he saw her grieving them and crying every night while they were living happily in their new home (he's like 20 something so he's a bit naive to the whole story).
Later on he does reconnect with them and contact them when he can using ✨️magic✨️.
Nor isn't a elphaba's or fiyero's, they're biologically cousins but they're so close that they consider each other siblings and call each other such.
Glinda adopts both after the Witch hunter incident because she sees far too much Elphaba in Liir and doesn't want the same thing happening again. When Liir is older he basically considers her his true mother because of all she's done for him.
So TL:DR Elphaba and Fiyero sent Liir to an orphanage after he was born, left Oz, hoped he'd never find out so he could live peacefully. He becomes close with a fellow orphan who is actually his cousin on his dad's side but neither know until much older, he gains magic, witch hunters come for him, Glinda saves him and adopts the two and Liir grows up incredibly insecure about his magic (even with Glinda's help).
As the story goes though, he'll learn to love himself and make his own family and no longer will he be in his mother's shadow and open up and let them in his life.
Sorry about the length, there's a lot I've come up with and this is the basic stuff (Nor is a novel and a half on her own and then there's Shell...)
Thanks for the support on the AU. I've been writing a fiction for it when not on my other fics so I hope I can upload it one day.
