Do not delet ur ideas
In my main WiP, Ein, I was having a lot of trouble to decide a starting point in the beggining. I needed to these two characters to meet, and to introduce the magic world to one of them, the protagonist.
My first idea was that Kaiki (mc) was at school, and then magic event happened and it looked like a hurricane. Then I'd have my other character get there and dissolve the hurricane.
I didn't stick with that idea, thought. It didn't feel right. The main charcter had little to no agency in the scene, and how could he? The situation was only solvable by magic, and at this point he had none. Then I just put it somewhere in the darkness of my old google doc files and moved to get a new idea, which I got. I moved past that point a while ago, and now I just find myself with a new problem, tying to figure out how to write myself out of it:
Both my characters met, thank you very much, and Kaiki was sent home with a magic Mark and the need to choose between getting in the magic world or abandoning it. I needed a spark to get him into. And then after little thinking, I got back to the old version of the Starting Point: the hurricane scene! There was my character, in school, after a little recovering, and now little and basic understanding of the magic he'll need. That scene didn't work out in the start, sure, but oh man how it's going to fit here.
I copypasted one of the best versions of it, edited and then rewrote over it. Done.
See? If I had deleted it I'd need way more time to write myself of that corner, but hey, I have several ideas that didn't work out where they should, one or another will fit in somewhere else.
~happy writing
I'm just very happy with it now
