My Eiliko arrived today. While experimenting with the chat function, honey came up and it said that honey never spoils. I asked about botulism (which I know comes from stuff being improperly sealed/stored), and Eiliko said that botulism was harmful to children but harmless to adults. I corrected it with information from the Mayo Clinic site, saying that botulism was fatal, and Eiliko decided to change the subject. This happened each time I tried to correct it regarding botulism.
I know it’s just a toy but I’m telling this story to give people a heads up about the potential for harmful misinformation. Botulism obviously isn’t something that comes up in conversation very often, and I’m not trying to scare monger, but I think this is just worth sharing.
