Linux Support Dropped Down To Next Stretch Goal - Move To Unity & Test Builds - Peek at Using Summons
Welcome all new backers! Here we are again with another healthy update:
Linux Support Dropped Down Lower on Stretch Goal Tier
We've been doing some re-thinking over here as far as our list of platform support goes, and the Linux crowd is nudging us a bit. We're now grouping Linux support in with the Android, OUYA, and iOS stretch goal. So more Linux users can jump in the fray now."But, that requires a move to Unity, yes?" Why yes, it does.
The Move To Unity
Over this past week during development, we cracked down and jumped into working with Unity and porting all of our code over to it. And we have to say, Unity is going to be the way to go. It'll allow us to work everything we imagined Cryamore to be visually, asset management and scripting is really robust, and the ability to pretty much build on the fly will be a benefit to you, our backers, as we keep adding more and more to the game's build.
Utilizing Unity's Webplayer makes this possible. Now we can provide updated test builds of all the game's features on the fly to all of you who back us. Just click here and try it out for yourselves. Controls are WASD, shift to Run. And you do need Java updated to try these builds. All in the the game's native 720p resolution.
Now please note: we're just now in the process of porting all existing code over, so all you see for now is an outdated map and just basic movement with Esmy's WIP sprite onscreen. But we wanted to show you that we're up and running here on Unity and are really working at moving everything over. We figured that we should move to Unity nowinstead of working in GMS on the demo, then having to port the further code over after March, which will slow down development. We are now at this full time so you're going to be getting quite the number of build updates.
The Special Webplayer Feature builds will be a backer-only incentive to get the detailed, hands-on scoop on the game's many features, gameplay, testing out abilities, exploration, and everything else in-between. Everyone else on the outside will have to wait for the major demos, but will still get consistent written updates through here, on our site and devblog. Let's get this done.
We're not dumbing down Main Console support for our final stretch goal, as we have a few professional leads from Nintendo and the like really looking for Cryamore to be on the WiiU, PS3, and 360. But we still would prefer that stretch goal to be hit, for purchasing the necessary dev kits, tools, and resources, and even further assistance to get the game complete. Maybe this will spur people on to hop on board and show that we are very serious and committed to getting this game complete.
Summons
A lot of people have been asking about our Summon system in Cryamore, and now that we have the basic AI Code pretty much set up and working, we can explain a bit about how some of the Eilems will work with you. We want some kind of AI team-up mechanic to work with the player.
Undina here, for example, will provide additional support for Esmy, by usingHydropump, water-pressuring enemies while Esmy can come in for the attack. We may be able to even work in using the Eilems to solve puzzles.
Sylpha on the other hand, will follow Esmy and support her with Harmonic Hurricane, a support move that makes Esmy move lightly across the field and does a continuous whirlwind attack. So we have a lot on the plate here.
So yup, Summons are definitely in.
We're going to get back to work here, but thanks again for all the new support! We're countin' on ya!!
Promotional Illo of Undina, the Eilem of Water.
We're gunning for the rest of the stretch goals to get it on iOS, Android, Linux, and the current big 3: PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U! So if you have ANY kinda interest in our game, please tell everyone you can and continue to support it! We're cooking up a lot of stuff! [link]

Concept Art Monday: Ifreeta, the Fire Elemental design.
This one was originally a dude, but thru fan thoughts, we decided to make her a female entity, since usually Ifrit is considered a male one. We kept her dragon-like in appearance and tall (Esmy's head goes up to Ifreeta's elbow!).
Cryamore Dev Diary 02
We're beginning the fourth week since the conception of Cryamore and things are coming along nicely given the size of our team, which now includes our composer, Aivi Tran, and soon to include a fourth team member!
I still remember how this project spawned off when Rob contacted me all of a sudden and pitched the idea which we then followed up with brainstorming on the design document right then and there, with a bit of fumbling around spreadsheets.
